Day 52 & 53 - At Sea

Nov 30 -  Biergarten Night - Typical sea day. Mexican Train with Stuart, Fred, Paul, and Changy However, today we went to tea, mainly because I wanted to see what it was like. It was nice enough but not “High Tea” by any means. Because it was Biergarten night we wore the aprons we purchased from Amazon before the trip. There was only ONE other person “dressed” for the occasion. Anyway, it was a fun thing to do and people enjoyed commenting about it. There was mostly all German food in the Lido Market. I was very good as well. Another surprisingly cool day!

Dec 1 - We had a delicious lunch at the Pinnacle Grill today. Dudi the casino manager gifted the lunch to us. Yes, we go to the casino often, but so do a lot of others. I am certain many spend much more than we do. However, it was a lovely gesture we really enjoyed. That made us a little late for Mexican Train but it all worked out. This afternoon was the Ice Cream Social. They set it all up on the Lido Deck. In addition to the ice cream with scads of toppings, there were special drinks and cotton candy. I tried the Brandy Alexander but it tasted watery. It might be a nice drink another time, a little sweet. The weather has changed. Today it was almost 80F with 83% humidity. I could see the rain coming toward us but I only felt a few drops, soon that passed and there were clear skies again.

Day - 51 Walvis Bay, Namibia

Nov 29 -   Walvis Bay, Namibia We finally put our feet on Namibian soil today! The tour we took today was a “free” one for us through Travel Leaders Network, which Stuart arranged. We left at 11am. The first tour highlight was a scenic drive to Walvis Bay Lagoon to view the flamingos. It is a swampy-like area but there are a lot of flamingos! It was very windy with sand blowing so photos are not great. Back into the small truck/bus/van vehicle with our next stop at Namib Dunes. This looked mostly like a place to rent dune buggies and take a drive. We weren’t there long, then we were off to Swakopmund. Swakopmund was established by German colonists in 1892. This coastal city is west of the capital, Windhoek. Today it is best known for its unique blend of German colonial architecture, recreational activities, and as a gateway to attractions such as the Namib Desert and the nearby resort town of Walvis Bay. Day 33 - Victoria, Mahe, Seychelles

This morning the ship horn blew and we had 2 minutes of silence to honor those Veterans who gave their lives. Another blast noted the end of the 2 minutes. I thought that was very meaningful and I am not the only one who shed a few tears. Tomorrow there will be a service on the big stage honoring Veterans Day. Today we took a much shorter walk to the Hyper Market to buy some more spices and just generally see what is on the shelves. It is always interesting to look in different super markets to see how the locals eat. This was a huge market, I likened it to a Wal-Mart Super Store. Christmas decorations are going up and we saw people buying lots of toys in that section. We got a few snacks and then ventured upstairs to the Food Court. It was small without too may choices but we had a piece of fried chicken. Then back to the ship. Today I took time to take photos of some lovely flowers along the walkway. Day 29 - At Sea

I’m really enjoying these sea days.   They do have activities on the ship but I rarely have time for that. I’m enjoying the pool, Mexican Train, and tonight we had dinner with Fred again. He is an interesting guy. We again talked about the loss of our spouses and it is amazing how this is a positive thing for us. Not the loss of course but the ability to talk to others who know just what we are going through personally. Not a lot of gambling tonight as I lost my allotted amount pretty quickly. I had a credit on the slot machine so I played that. It was fun, I still have a small credit!!!
