We've arrived in Cape Town AND Day 1
June and I managed to get on an earlier flight to Atlanta so we met up with Vernae and Eric in plenty of time. A long flight was ahead of us, as expected. I forget how grueling these long flights are as the discomfort is soon forgotten upon arrival. Two hours into the 14 hour flight I was wide awake!!! Long night...
Arrival was uneventful. After getting to the hotel we had to switch rooms as they did not accommodate our request for 2 beds. Not a real problem but we were awfully tired.
In the morning the surprise is no hot water in the shower. It is a lovely, 5* hotel so it is a little hard to understand.
Words of the day from Vernae: "We visited the Cape of New Hope where we saw antelope, ostriches and seals. The Atlantic and Indian oceans meet there and it’s beautiful! From there we visited Boulders Beach to see the Jack Ass penguins (named for the sound they make, like donkeys) and a great seafood lunch. Then we took a drive up Table Mountain with a baboon troop sighting to finish an incredible day!" They could not go on the tram to the top due to high winds.
